Update from Swine Flu House
Nov. 10th, 2009 08:28 pmSo remember how I was in the Swine Flu Waiting Room at the health center? I got sent to the house where they're quarantining everyone suspected of having H1N1 on campus. Yes, I said suspected. And yes, that means that most of us probably don't have it. No, they're not doing testing at this point and only a few people have prescriptions for tamiflu.
I'm expecting to be able to go home tomorrow and back to class on Thursday. I have missed way too many classes because of this debacle.
Admittedly, I haven't been feeling well, but also admittedly? To quote a friend of mine, "Your reaction to half the things you're allergic to is identical to what they're screening for."
And my towel just fell off the hook in the closet. I better not be sharing this room with both a roommate and a ghost.

Hope that towel dropper doesn't turn out to be a ghost like the beast that rode in on the back of my daughter's friend last night. Why do they always want to jump ship when they come to my house? Three times in the last month this has happened and that's three times too many.
While I am no longer in Swine Flu House, I'm fairly certain that it was just a bored one. There wasn't any maliciousness in the house, which I found interesting--in my (very, very limited) experience old houses usually have at least something. We've got a couple that are *fun* on campus, but I tend to avoid those dorms. And laugh quietly when I hear my fellow students complain about how "anonymous students" have done something. I grew up with folks who either refer to them as ghosts or demons, but at least they acknowledged them.
Is there a particular reason why the ghosts really like your house? I have a couple friends who attract them, but I've always been fortunate enough not to. (Power hungry mostly-humans, however, is another story altogether.)
I actually think it was me, rather than the house, that was attractive to them. I'm not sure why as I've never been susceptible to these presences although I've had more experience than I'd like and I've always been aware of them - be they negative, neutral or positive.
